In 1333, due to the betrayal of Ashikaga Takauji
The Kamakura shogunate, ruled by the Hojo Tokimune family, was destroyed.
Hojo Tokiyuki lost his position, family, and hometown,
He was sheltered by Yorishige Suwa at Suwa-taisha Shrine in Shinano Province,
He changed his name to Chojumaru,
He changed his name to Chojumaru and gathered strength to reclaim Kamakura.
Two years later, in 1335, Hojo Tokiyuki raised an army in Shinano and made his name known throughout Japan.

It was the beginning of the “Chūchū Sodai Rebellion.
